Lateral Hip Pain

Do you experience pain on the outside of your hips after sitting?
Does your hip give you pain when you lie on it at night?
Are you perhaps near menopause and you want to increase your walking, but your hip is stopping you? It's better with walking but aches terribly afterwards.
The pain is awful... burning, pins and needles, aching down the leg....
This could well be Gluteal Tendinopathy, otherwise known as Trochanteric Bursitis, or Lateral Hip Pain.
The under surface of the tendon on the outer edge of the hip rubs against the bone underneath it. The tendon also overstretches with poor postures. This creates a painful situation.
It's the second most debilitating musculoskeletal pain problem.
And it's very treatable.
You just need to know why the tendon is painful and what you can do to take the load off it.
Every person has different reason for why the tendon is being irritated. This reason needs to be determined and addressed.
Then you can be guided through a strengthening program and motor control exercises to teach the tendon to load correctly.
It sounds easy but it takes a lot of dedication. Without dedication, the pain won't go away.
The first thing you can do is put a

cushion on your dining chair so you are sitting a bit higher to take pressure off the tendon.
A cortisone injection may help for a few weeks, or assist recovery, but it won't strengthen the tendon or teach other muscles to work with it. It won't take away the reason behind why you have the painful tendon in the first place.
